This systematic review of the effectiveness of prevention, early intervention, harm reduction, and treatment of problem use in young people for tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs (eg, cannabis, opioids, amphetamines, or cocaine) confirms the value of public health interventions for reducing substance use, but also the limited evidence for young people.  Further research is recommended with young people, particularly those from low-income countries.
