Event Details
The annual conference of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will be held in Adelaide between the 19th and 22nd of October 2017.
The Conference theme Growing Minds: The Early Origins of Mental Health and Disorder will develop the theme around the early origins of mental health problems experienced by children, adolescents and adults. For example, what are the key psychological, biological and social factors during antenatal and postnatal development that increase risk for later mental health problems? Which of these factors are amenable to change? As well, what key risk factors may be amenable to change during the preschool years? What interventions are available to address these issues and how could we improve these interventions in coming years? The choice of the conference theme reflects increasing recognition that reducing the incidence and prevalence of mental health problems will require a better understanding about their early origins and the implementation of effective universal, targeted and clinical interventions during the early years.
