Perinatal anxiety and depression are known risk factors for later maternal and infant health problems. This systematic review of mindfulness-based interventions during the perinatal period identified eighteen suitable studies. Mindfulness-based interventions were shown to be effective for reducing perinatal depression and even more so for reducing perinatal anxiety.
