Behavioural interventions are often recommended for use with children and young people with ADHD. This review found that the effects of such interventions are probably mediated by reducing co-morbid conduct problems, rather than altering core ADHD symptoms. Interventions were more likely to succeed when delivered by well-trained therapists and less likely to be effective in truly blinded study samples. Treating parental depression was found to enhance the impact of behavioural interventions. The authors support the continued use of such interventions in concordance with parental preference.
