This systematic review of perspectives of families and young people provides useful guidance for people caring for young people who self-harm. Key themes included talking and listening, referral/connection to adults, referral to formal organisations, reduction of stigma, assurance of confidentiality and improved interaction within the family environment. This is a useful article to give parents who want evidence-informed suggestions for assisting their child.
