Adjunctive Bright Light Therapy for Bipolar Depression: A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial
DK Sit et al. Am J Psychiatry. Published online Oct 2017.
Although this is an adult study, it may be relevant for clinicians treating older teenagers and young adults. Compared with those who received a placebo light-based procedure, people with moderate levels of bipolar depression who received bright white light (7000 lux at midday) experienced greater levels of remission (68.2% vs 22.2% at 6 weeks) and no manic switches.
