Cumulative childhood risk is associated with a new measure of chronic inflammation in adulthood
Rasmussen LJ, Moffitt TE, Eugen-Olsen J, et al. J Child Psychol Psychiatry. Published online May 2018. doi:10.1111/jcpp.12928
This investigation from the Dunedin Longitudinal Study demonstrates that early childhood adversity, lower IQ and poorer childhood self-control are associated with a long-term increase in the inflammatory marker soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) in participants aged 38 years. The authors hypothesize that suPAR may be a useful adult inflammatory marker with which to gauge childhood risk.
