This systematic review and network meta-analysis of 101 trials with 6625 unique participants who received 11 different psychotherapies and 4 control conditions found that only group-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) was significantly more effective in reducing anxiety symptoms than other psychotherapies and all control conditions posttreatment and at short-term follow-up. Results suggest that group-based CBT should be the first line intervention for children and adolescents with anxiety disorders.
