Mechanisms of Change in the Prevention of Depression: An Indicated School-Based Prevention Trial at the Transition to High School
Blossom, J. B., Adrian, M. C., Vander Stoep, A., & McCauley, E. (2019). Mechanisms of Change in the Prevention of Depression: An Indicated School-Based Prevention Trial at the Transition to High School. Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
This study demonstrated that a brief, skills-based, high school transition programme (HTSP) to support previously vulnerable children could prevent the onset of depression during adolescence. HTSP targeted factors specific to the school transition, i.e. the social determinants of mental health, rather than explicit symptoms or protective factors related to depression.
