Preventing Children’s Posttraumatic Stress After Disaster with Teacher-Based Intervention: A Controlled Study

This study of almost 1500 Israeli school children demonstrated that a classroom-based, coping skills-focussed intervention called Self-Innoculation Training (SIT) was more effective than no treatment at preventing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There were 57% more detected cases of PTDS in the control group. This intervention may be useful in areas of large scale trauma, such as cities exposed to war. (Full article free to read online)
