This systematic review shows that some psychological interventions designed to treat anxiety and depression, particularly those based on principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) may be useful for reducing symptoms of these conditions in the short term. There is limited evidence that they are acceptable to children and young people or that they improve quality of life or symptoms of long-term physical conditions. There are limited interventions designed for addressing health-related anxiety.
