Event Details
This event is organised by the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health in the UK.
Drug and alcohol misuse pose a significant risk to a young person’s physical and mental health. Both national and local evidence suggests that majority of young people who misuse substances are likely to be using alcohol or cannabis, this is however being challenged by the growth of the ‘legal-highs’ market. The extent of the drug and alcohol misuse is not fully known but majority of young people who seek help for substance misuse have other emotional or social problems. This workshop will be the equivalent of 5 CPD learning hours.
About the day
The training day will be presented by clinicians who have a vast knowledge from their experience in managing substance misuse in the youth. The day will include a mixture of presentations, case studies, and opportunities for discussion and questions. Delegates can expect to get an overview on the commonly misused substances as well as the novel psychoactive substances, ways to support young people and their families, practicalities and useful resources, and to become more aware of relevant dilemmas and debates in this area.
